Please note a change in meeting location for July. Due to renovations at the Sarasota Garden Club, this month only we will be meeting at theWaldemere Fire Station at 2070 Waldemere St, one block east of US 41.
TFSS will provide mangoes for tasting, and lots of toothpicks.
Darryl and Kevin have traveled to Pine Island and scouted lots of local outlets to find some wonderful mangoes for our Mangofest. Just a few of the varieties we’ll be tasting include:
- Coconut Cream
- Fruit Punch
- Imam Pasand (rare!)
- Maha Chanok
- and more!
Members are also encouraged to bring their own home-grown mangoes of known variety. Please prepare them in 1/2-to-3/4 inch cubes, in a serving dish or tub and ready for tasting, and bring a small sign telling the variety.
Our planned speaker, Noris Ledesma, has international travel obligations and had to postpone her visit here until next year. But we have plenty of tropical fruit knowledge right here in TFSS, so this month’s presentation will be our own Q&A.
Bring your general tropical fruit tree questions, and we’ll put them out for any member in attendance to address. It will be informative, and a good way to get to know our fellow members better.
We welcome non-members to attend any of our meetings; your first meeting is free and after that you’re welcome to join or just pay the $5 meeting guest fee. We hope to see you there!
