Noris Ledesma, Ph.D., Curator of Tropical Fruit at Fairchild Tropical Gardens, will be our speaker at the March meeting.
She is an expert in tropical fruit horticulture, specializing in mangos. Not only is Noris is a dynamic, high energy speaker, she is also great at conveying her knowledge to ordinary gardeners like us.
Recently she has been showing local farmers how to increase their mango production. Sharing this information, Noris will be providing us with simple steps to increase flower production, fruit set, and harvest. She will also talk about various cultivars, horticultural fundamentals, and techniques for training and pruning.
Dr. Ledesma has an educational background in Tropical Fruits and Economy, and Forestry Engineering. She has worked with mango growers throughout Latin America, Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Africa, and India. For the past 17 years she has been employed at the world renowned Fairchild Tropical Gardens in Miami.
